One of cannabidiol’s greatest strengths is its incredible versatility – it can be eaten, inhaled, or absorbed through the skin. All of these are effective methods to get the appropriate CBD dose for your situation. Whether your sweet tooth coaxes you into getting your CBD through delectable, high-quality chocolates or you simply want to pop a pill or take some oil drops, the choice is up to you.
Among the thousands of CBD products to choose from, there is one that provides an extra layer of versatility: CBD crystals. Upon seeing the white, crumbly substance in its little plastic jar, you’d be forgiven if your first thought is something along the lines of, “um…what am I supposed to do with this?” That’s what this post is all about!
Vaporisation or “dabbing”
CBD crystals are a purified form of the compound, in most cases as much as 99%+ pure CBD isolate. There are some less pure forms of CBD crystals that include other extracts from the hemp plant, but we will stick to the really pure stuff for now. The quick and easy way to consume CBD in its purest form is by vaporizing it.
There are many devices on the market for vaporizing CBD and other cannabis products, one of the most convenient being “wax” or “dab” pens. These are very compact, discrete devices that can be loaded with CBD crystals and used while on the go. Similar to a traditional e-cigarette, you load the chamber with your material, hold down a button, and inhale.
Some CBD users may prefer to use a glass water pipe with a titanium or quartz nail to consume their crystals, but this is technically combustion and not true vaporisation. Either way is very effective, but bear in mind that glass pipes may be a bit harsher on the lungs.
Cooking and baking
You might need a bit more patience for this one, but it’s a fun, creative way to use your crystals if you’re handy in the kitchen. CBD crystals are very soluble, especially in fatty oils. In a tried and true method that may be familiar to many, you can dissolve your crystals into melted butter for baking some yummy yet medicinal treats.
Your CBD-infused cookies may not make nature documentaries nearly as interesting as some of your other past kitchen experiments, but they will provide the relief you need from chronic pain, anxiety, or depression and allow you to have a productive, fulfilling day.
DIY oil tinctures
For the same reason your CBD crystals play nice with butter, you can make your own CBD oil tinctures. Almost all of the CBD tinctures on the market are made up of a couple of ingredients: CBD isolate and a vector oil to dissolve it in. Once you have your crystals, you’re already halfway there!
All you need to do is add your crystals to your vector oil of choice, some popular options being olive oil, hempseed oil, and MCT oil. Just make sure you measure out everything accurately, or you may end up with a tincture too weak or too strong for your liking.
Variety is the spice of life
Finding the right CBD product for your needs can be a daunting and sometimes expensive process. With pure CBD crystals, you can experiment with several different types of products in one, which can be a fun and cost-effective way to narrow down what works best. Of course, some CBD users want variety and using crystals as a flexible base material to make your own products gives you just that.
